Nigma Galaxy announced on Saturday (28 May) that they have signed superstar midlaner Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan to complete their roster ahead of the 2021-2022 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Summer Tour.

SumaiL will be replacing Igor "iLTW" Filatov, who was removed from the active roster in April before formally leaving the team earlier this month.

SumaiL will be taking over as Nigma Galaxy's midlaner from Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi, who will shift to the carry role vacated by iLTW.

Prior to joining Nigma Galaxy, SumaiL last played for Team Secret, one of Nigma Galaxy's regional rivals in the DPC's Western European regional league.

SumaiL only spent six months with Secret before leaving the team earlier this month following lackluster showings in the DPC's Winter and Spring Tours. He was replaced by Dutch prodigy Remco "Crystallis" Arets.

SumaiL will notably be joining a Nigma Galaxy squad that has had an even more disappointing season than Secret.

After only managing a sixth place finish in Division I of the Winter Tour regional league for Western Europe, Nigma Galaxy ended the Spring Tour regional league in last place with a 1-6 record.

As a result, the team was demoted from Division I and will start the Summer Tour from Division II.

As they are no longer able to earn DPC points, Nigma Galaxy are also out of the running for a direct invite to The International 11 (TI11), which will be held in Singapore in October.

After missing out on TI10 last year, the team will have to once again earn their place in Dota 2's annual world championship tournament through the regional qualifiers.

Expectations will be high for this new Nigma Galaxy squad, especially now that its roster is all comprised of TI champions.

The core Nigma Galaxy roster, comprised of Miracle, Ivan "MinD_ControL" Ivanov, Maround "GH" Merhej, and Kuro "Kuroky" Salehi Takhasomi, won the TI7 championship and finished second in TI9 under the banner of Team Liquid.

Meanwhile, SumaiL became the youngest player to win a TI championship in just the first year of his career when he won the Aegis of Champions at TI5 with Evil Geniuses when he was just 16 years old.

SumaiL is expected to make his debut with Nigma Galaxy once the Summer Tour regional league for Western Europe kicks off in June.
