No hazardous cargo, just tonnes of mangosteens on flight MH370, says airline CEO

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 was transporting 3-4 tonnes of mangosteens to China, said the airline's group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya (pic) today.

Speaking at the latest press conference on the missing MAS flight MH370, Ahmad Jauhari added that there was no hazardous cargo on board the aircraft.

Following the disappearance of MH370, police began probing all the crew members on board, including the pilot and co-pilot, as well as all ground staff.

Police visited the homes of the pilot Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah and co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid again on Saturday and took away a flight simulator from the pilot's house.

Acting Transport Minister Hishamuddin Hussein urged China to re-evaluate its scrutiny of Chinese passengers on the passenger manifest, adding that authorities from various countries, including Interpol, have gone through the passenger list and found nothing suspicious beyond the usage of two stolen passports.

The bearers of these two passports, two Iranians, were economic immigrants rather than terrorists, investigations revealed.

Previously, the Chinese government had cleared all 152 of its nationals who were on board the plane.

However, Hishammuddin said the Chinese authorities have been requested earlier today to "relook and re-intensify" efforts to examine the passenger manifest. – March 17, 2014.
