No longer number 1, Windsor's unemployment rate dips slightly
Windsor-Essex's unemployment rate fell slightly in September, and the region no longer has the country's highest unemployment rate.
The unemployment rate was 8.9 for the month, compared with 9.2 per cent for August, Statistics Canada said Friday.
The region, which includes Essex County, also grew by about 1,400 residents last month, according to Statistics Canada.
The city still has the second highest jobless rate out of 35 major cities, but Edmonton is number one at nine per cent.
The national unemployment rate stood at 6.5 per cent, compared with 6.6 per cent in August.
The monthly unemployment rate is a seasonally adjusted three-month moving average.
