Nord Stream leak tracked by Danish planes, ships

STORY: The frigate Absalon and the environmental ship Gunnar Thorson are in the waters around the gas leaks helping to ensure that civilian ships do not enter the prohibited zones.

A navigational warning has been issued to civilian shipping in the area to avoid sailing in a radius of five nautical miles around the leaks, near the island of Bornholm.

Neither Nord Stream 1 or 2 were in operation when the ruptures were discovered on Monday (September 26), but both contained gas and gas has been spewing out under the Baltic Sea, with bubbles rushing to the surface, ever since.

It remains far from clear who might be responsible for any sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines that Russia and European partners spent billions of dollars building.
