A full-time National Serviceman from the Republic of Singapore Air Force was found hanging from a rope in his office in Sembawang Air Base on Friday (28 September).

In a media release, the Ministry of Defence said that the transport operator from 706 Squadron was found at 8.22am.

The Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted and the serviceman was pronounced dead on site at 8.31am by an SAF medical officer. Police are investigating the incident.

“The Ministry of Defence and the Singapore Armed Forces extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late serviceman,” said the ministry, adding that the SAF is assisting the family in their time of grief.

This is the second such death reported in a few months. On 28 July, an off-duty SAF regular serviceman was found hanging from a rope in his bunk in Nee Soon Camp.
