O Boeuf A 6 Pattes: Hearty French Food In The Heart Of Clementi

Finally, a decent reason for me to visit the West. Don’t be hatin’ guys, but living in Changi honestly makes leaving the house a bit of a chore.

O Boeuf A 6 Pattes was more than worth the journey. It’s nestled in Park West Condo, just two bus stops from Clementi MRT, and you can easily find out how to get there.

It was refreshing to find a restaurant serving French food in such a relaxed and friendly environment. The staff are welcoming and ensures to make you feel right at home.

The restaurant name may be in French, but it’s pretty clear from the logo that beef is the name of the game here. I thought I’d delve into some of the fresh starters first before hitting up the main event.

The Mediterranean Tomato Salad ($12) was exactly what I needed, with some of the biggest and sweetest cherry tomatoes I’ve seen in Singapore. The sweetness was balanced with just the right amount of salt and pepper from the scattered olives, feta cheese and rocket leaves.

If a salad starter is too modest for you, I’d recommend the Charcuterie Board ($24). A selection of meats, terrines and pates provide a good sharing portion, to sufficiently line your tummies.

O Boeuf A 6 Pattes literally translates to ‘the six-legged cow’, which I guess makes sense considering the logo. Six beef dishes are served here, including the Braised Beef Cheek In Red Wine ($26).

Tender chunks of meat are slow cooked to perfection and served on top of some of the best mashed potato I’ve had in my life. Each beef dish comes with a choice of two sides, and trust me when I say one of them should definitely be the creamy mashed potato.

Ahhh… the pièce de résistance. Premium Grilled Wagyu Beef Cote De Boeuf ($15/100g) is just the right thing to order for two very hungry people. It will range from 800g – 1.2kg a portion depending on how many people are sharing, so make sure your kakis are beef lovers.

It would be hard not to fall in love with the brilliantly cooked and seasoned meat though, and the fact that it was served without any accompanying sauce meant that the natural flavours could really come through. Choose a side of the mash (but of course) and the popular ratatouille to complete your meal.

If beef just isn’t your thing, you’d probably gravitate towards the many other classic French dishes available on the menu. Duck Leg Confit ($24) is my go to French favourite, and O Boeuf A 6 Pattes’s version did not disappoint.

Served atop sauteed potatoes and creamy beans, the duck skin was light and crispy, complemented with a touch of balsamic glaze.

O boeuf chocolate mousse

I thought I was stuffed till I saw the Varlhona Chocolate Mousse ($10) and simply could not hold back. This ain’t no cheap chocolate mousse and was rich and smooth, with bursts of sweetness from the added berries.

O Boeuf A 6 Pattes does away with the stereotype that French cuisine only refers to high end and expensive food. The friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and hearty food will have you coming back for more.

Suddenly Clementi doesn’t seem that far away.

Expected Damage: $18 – $40 per pax
