KOTA BARU: The offices of the State Treasury and Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob, at the Darulnaim Complex in Jalan Kuala Krai here, are believed to have been broken into by a group of thieves, last night.

Although police are being tight-lipped about the incident as they carry out investigations, it is understood that cash is missing from the Menteri Besar’s office.

It is not yet known if anything is missing from the Treasury.

The break-in was apparently discovered by staff members who arrived at the Complex at 8am today. They noticed that the two offices had been ransacked, and immediately informed the authorities.

Deputy Kelantan police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Din Ahmad confirmed the case.

"This is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code," he said, adding no further details.
