Ole Gunnar Solskajer warns Manchester United fringe players could be forced to train alone
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has delivered a stark warning to his Manchester United fringe players.
The Norwegian insists he will exile anyone who threatens to upset his Old Trafford rebuild.
Solskjaer says a number of his squad will have to accept time on the side lines, with the likes of Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones facing a fight for regular action.
With the transfer window open until October 5 there is still time to offload players who don’t fit into the United manager’s plans. But those who remain have been warned about becoming a disruptive influence.
“The first major contribution is for them to give 100 per cent and want to be a part of the team themselves,” he said. “They have got to want to be a part of this team going forward, be a part of this culture.
"If they don’t, they will have to train by themselves.”
Lingard is believed to have been particularly disappointed about failing to even make the bench for last week’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.
Sergio Romero, meanwhile, has been pushed down the pecking order by Dean Henderson’s return from a loan at Sheffield United.
Solskjaer added: “There are players here who don’t get match time for sure, and some of them will not be happy playing as little as they do when they feel they deserve to play more.
“Then again it is a long and hard season so the team you pick in the first league game is not going to be the same as in the 10th league game, and definitely not towards the end.
“It’s up to each and every individual to be closer to selection and getting into the team and working hard every day.”
