Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remained coy over Manchester United's transfer business after watching his side labour to a 3-0 Carabao Cup victory at Luton Town.

United finished third in the Premier League last season to qualify for Champions League football, but Donny van de Beek has been the sole arrival in the summer transfer window with fans growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of new signings.

Progress has stalled regarding United's lengthy pursuit of Jadon Sancho, while last weekend's 3-1 League defeat at home to Crystal Palace highlighted the need for defensive reinforcements, with a left-back a priority.

United got back to winning ways on Tuesday night at Luton thanks to goals from Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, though the Red Devils were unspectacular and needed two late strikes to ease the pressure.

Regarding United's transfer window, Solskjaer told Sky Sports after the game: "We are working with the ones we have now and let's see what happens.

"We'll give you updates when something happens, and if something happens."

Solskjaer was also asked about Jesse Lingard, who has been linked with Tottenham, but chose to highlight his performance rather than comment on transfer speculation.

He said: "I thought he was bright. He's getting closer to a goal. He's got legs and was bright and busy today."
