Ollie Locke has shared that his surrogate miscarried at six weeks.

The Made in Chelsea star and husband Gareth have been attempting to bring a child into their family with help from a surrogate, who had a positive pregnancy test in November.

However, Locke shared on Tuesday that the pregnancy was sadly lost.

He explained in an Instagram post it was the “last thing” he wanted to be writing but that it was “part of [their] journey”.

“In early November our life changed in the most extraordinary and wonderful way, those two perfect lines shone through a pregnancy test telling us we were pregnant and Gareth, myself, our surrogate and our families were all ecstatic,” the 34-year-old detailed.

“Through the course of nature, at 6 weeks and 2 days it stopped growing and had gone.

“This is not going to be the end of the road, in fact we have some wonderful plans and we continue to move forward towards the remarkable gift of fatherhood,” he went on, before thanking fans and those in a similar position for their support.

The reality star also pledged to try and change legislation to make it easier for those “desperately trying to have a family”.

“Why would any government grant equal marriage, but make it so heartbreakingly difficult and frighteningly expensive to have a family, I will do everything in my power to open up the conversation of a modernisation in legislation change!” he stated.

The post was accompanied by a picture of a child's dressing gown embroidered with the words 'Baby Locke-Locke'.

Locke announced back in June that he and his spouse were set to become first-time dads in a round of IVF that was ultimately unsuccessful.

He recounted their trip to a fertility clinic in Cancun, Mexico, via social media posts.

The pair had both provided a sperm sample which was then mixed so they would not know who the child’s biological father was.

Sharing the moment they saw the egg being fertilised, Locke wrote: “I’m not crying, you’re crying! This is the very moment our eggs were fertilised… in 9 months time, after being looked after by a very wonderful human we hope to be able to show you what he or she looks like and how much love we have to give!

"I cannot wait to meet you little one and to be your daddy."
