ONE Championship, RUF Nation Partner For ‘Road To ONE’ Heavyweight Tournament

ONE Championship is looking for the next great heavyweight talent – and the organization is starting that search in the United States.

On Thursday, The Home Of Martial Arts announced it has partnered with American mixed martial arts promotion Ringside Unified Fighting (RUF Nation), which will host a “Road To ONE” heavyweight tournament starting on 13 March.

The heavyweight tournament will feature 16 talented competitors, with the winner earning a US$100,000-plus contract to fight in ONE Championship.

“One of our most important goals at ONE Championship has been to give athletes the biggest global platform to showcase their skills,” said ONE Championship Vice President Rich Franklin.

“We’re more than excited for this tournament to commence, and to discover the world’s next heavyweight superstar.”

Dr. Joel Lopez, President of RUF Nation, shared Franklin’s enthusiasm. And by the sound of it, picking the 16 lucky competitors will be a difficult task.

“I’m ecstatic for the opportunity ONE Championship has given us at RUF Nation to partner on a ‘Road To ONE’ tournament,” Lopez said.

“RUF is poised with the ideal stage for recruitment, and the response from applicants has been overwhelming so far. I believe this tournament will produce some of the best undiscovered talent in the U.S. to add to ONE’s roster.”

The matchups will be confirmed and announced at a later date. Additionally, fans will be able to catch all the action live at www.rufmma.net.

Additionally, RUF Nation will host other “Road To ONE” tournaments in various weight classes later in 2021, with the winners of those events also earning contracts worth at least US$100,000 to compete in ONE.

In the meantime, download the ONE Super App to catch ONE: FISTS OF FURY on 26 February from Singapore, where reigning ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Ilias Ennahachi will defend his strap against #2-ranked contender “The Kicking Machine” Superlek Kiatmoo9.
