Truck driver arrested after six-vehicle accident in Ang Mo Kio

A tipper truck driver was on Wednesday arrested by police for his involvement in a traffic accident that morning that claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

According to Today, 59-year-old Soh Choon Seng was driving a truck that reportedly suffered a brake failure. Soh's vehicle hit two cars, a motorcycle, a lorry and a bus that had stopped in front of him at the traffic light on Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, on the extreme left lane of the road.

Yahoo Singapore understands that the motorcyclist, an Indian man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene where the accident occurred, at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 and Marymount Road. Meanwhile, another four people were sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where three were later discharged and one was warded for further assessment.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the incident at about 9:50am, and they deployed three ambulances, a fire engine, a red rhino and two support vehicles to the scene.

A few who witnessed the incident posted about it on Twitter, describing it as a “horrible” accident”.
