One killed, four injured in two-vehicle collision in Sarikei

SARIKEI: A trainee teacher was killed while four others were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Bukit Sebangkoi near here today.

In the 9am incident, Danial Tong Jia Yong, 20, a trainee teacher at the Batu Lintang Teachers Education Institute, was driving a Perodua MyVi car and on his way to Kuching.

Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred when the victim was trying to negotiate a corner on a wet and slippery road.

The victim was believed to have lost control of the car and veered into the opposite lane before colliding with the Proton Gen-2 car.

He said those injured were the passenger of the MyVi, the driver of the Gen-2, who suffered broken ribs, and his two passengers, including a young girl who sustained injuries.

The body was sent to the Sarikei Hospital for post-mortem, he said. – BERNAMA © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
