One killed, six injured after MPV slams into retaining wall

KUALA LUMPUR: One person was killed, while six others were injured when their multi-purpose-vehicle (MPV) slammed into a retaining wall at the Karak Highway, this afternoon.

In the incident which took place at KM 39.8 of the Karak Highway at 4.30pm, saw the driver of the MP identified as Ong Boon Seng, 54, killed.

The family of seven were on their way to Bentong, when the incident took place.

Pahang Deputy Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Sani Harul said initial investigation revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the concrete retaining wall on the left side of the highway.

“The two seriously injured, a male and female were in their 50s and 60s.

“Another four passengers are in stable condition. All of them had been sent to the Bentong hospital,” he said.

Sani adds that two of the seriously injured victims were found trapped in the vehicle.

He said the department dispatched seven personnel to the accident scene, the moment they received an emergency call. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
