[Update 03/16/2020 10:30 AM]: Talk about a pivot! Friends is officially coming back for a big reunion special!

The announcement was confirmed by the show's cast members through their Instagram accounts as they shared an image from the show with the words, "It's happening."

HBO Max still has yet to confirm all the official details about it, but based on previous reports, the special will bring back the cast members and have them look back on Friends' iconic 10-season run.

The special will not be another episode the series that will serve at what happened after the show ended. Still, it will be totally nice to see the gang back together one more time to celebrate the show.

A host hasn't been named yet, but rumor has it that Ellen Degeneres is the top pick for the special.

HBO Max is set to launch in May.

Fans have been hoping for a Friends reunion ever since the show ended in the 2004. Thanks to Netflix, even more fans have been falling in love with the gang and while it looks like show's big move from Netflix to HBO Max might signal a reunion, things seem to be a little more complicated.

HBO Max was a part of the 2020 Television Critics Association winter press tour where they gave critics and TV journalists major updates of what's to come from the streamer when it launches in May. It was previously hinted that the original Friends cast might be doing a reunion special for the new streaming service.

"There’s interest all the way around, and yet we can’t quite seem to get that interest all aligned to kind of push the button on it," chief content officer of HBO Max Kevin Reilly said, according to TV Line. "So today, unfortunately, it’s still a maybe."

Jennifer Aniston previously hinted that there was a possible reunion happening, but that things were up in the air in terms of details and what it might entail.

"I would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is," she said on the Ellen Degeneres Show. "So we’re just trying. We’re working on something."

While it doesn't mean that the reunion won't happen, this does mean that it likely won't be ready for HBO Max's launch, which will also bring back Friends to a streaming service. Hopefully, it finally does happen and we'll get to see them all back together.
