PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry today confirmed that only one student of SK Seri Tasik Cheras has tested positive for influenza A (H1N1), while another four are not infected.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham said the five students have been hospitalised to receive further treatment after being diagnosed with respiratory infection.
He said three of them have been allowed to go home.
"Another two are still being treated at the hospital and they are recovering.
"They have shown symptoms such as fever, cough and flu.
"The lab test on their samples showed that only one pupil tested positive for H1N1, while another one is free of the virus," he said in a statement today.
Dr Noor Hisham said the H1N1 case only involved the pre-school class and the class has been temporarily closed for two days (April 17 to 18).
He said this is to allow cleaning works which were jointly conducted by the school and Cheras Health Office.
"Since the cleaning activities have been implemented, the class was reopened yesterday.
"However, students who still have the symptoms are advised to rest at home until they recover," he said.
He said the Cheras Health Office is continuously monitoring the situation to detect if there are new cases.
