PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile is able to run at 90 frames-per-second exclusively on OnePlus devices starting today.

If you're an avid fan of PUBG on mobile and happen to have a OnePlus 8, 7T or 7 Pro smartphone, then you can start playing the game in an impressive 90fps right now, for a limited time.

In comparison, PC users typically see frames anywhere between 30 to 120 fps while playing PUBG depending on your hardware, so 90fps from a phone is rather impressive.

This is an exclusive experience available to OnePlus users worldwide, excluding Mainland China, Japan, and Korea, between August 6 to September 6.

PlayerUnknown's Battleground is one of the first proper battle royale titles out there, which would go on to be emulated by the likes of Fortnite and Apex Legends, but it is actually quite popular for people playing on mobile.

Up to 100 players parachute onto a remote island to battle in a winner-takes-all showdown and you start with nothing. Scavenge weapons, vehicles and supplies, and defeat every player you see to be the last one standing.

The announcement comes today from the company OnePlus and the goal behind this is to make mobile gaming a bit smoother.

PUBG Mobile, as well, is one of the world's most downloaded mobile games.

Obviously, graphically-heavy video games aren't going to run especially well on most mobile phones, and you won't get refresh rates like you would from a console or powerful PC. This move from OnePlus, however, seeks to alleviate some of the 'bad performance' issues surrounding mobile gaming.

Pete Lau, founder and CEO of OnePlus said: "That’s exactly what we are delivering with this exclusive 90 FPS experience with PUBG Mobile.

"We will continue pushing mobile gaming to new levels through our industry-leading displays, powerful performance, and fast and smooth overall user experience".

It seems like the right direction for mobile gaming, but it is already an extremely popular medium for a lot of people.

It remains unclear at the moment if people playing in 90fps will have any sort of advantage to those who aren't or if it will only match players who are running the same OnePlus version of the game.

This update is live now, so if you've got a OnePlus phone you can begin to play PUBG (for free) in 90fps until September 6.
