Learning doesn't stop, even if you’re on lockdown or self-isolation during these trying times. Even if you can’t get admitted into their hallowed institutions, both Yale and Harvard universities are offering online courses for free, so you can get around to learning something from the comforts of your home.

Yale University has included a full-set of class lectures produced in high-quality videos, and will be accompanied by other course materials such as syllabi, suggested readings, exams and problem sets. All lectures are available as downloadable and audio-only transcripts so you can re-read them later.

Among some of the 40 courses that Yale is offering are Modern Poetry, Ancient Greek History, and Philosophy and the Science of Human Nature - you can explore a favourite topic you’ve long forgotten. If any of these courses tickle your fancy, simply log on to Yale’s website to apply.

Harvard University has an impressive catalogue of free online courses, which range from one week to 15 weeks in duration. Whether you’re interested in subjects like social sciences, computer science, art and design, humanities, or business and programming, the courses demand dedication from users as each course comes with different pacing, homework assignments and time commitment.

Some interesting ones we noticed include Lessons from Ebola: Preventing the next pandemic, Introduction to Tai Chi and Introduction to Data Wise.

If you’re interested in applying, simply log on to Harvard’s website and view the catalogue online.
