South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace seems to be on a mission to be the most “disgusting human being” on Capitol Hill, argued The New Abnormal co-hosts Andy Levy and Danielle Moodie, with her latest round of transphobic attacks proving what an “absolute horrific, monster,” she has become in pursuit of political power.
Mace has taken it upon herself to make life more difficult for transgender people —and her Capitol Hill colleague, incoming Delaware Rep. Sarah McBride, the first transgender congresswoman—with ongoing transphobic attacks and legislative proposals. In a recent interview with right-wing commentator Benny Johnson, Mace again claimed that she was attacked by a trans ally at a Capitol Hill event on Tuesday—some witnesses contradicting her account—and attempted to dehumanize transgender people by insulting them as “demonic.”
“This is a fight,” said Mace. “This is a battle between good and evil.” Echoing a common argument made by anti-trans activists, she called for other members of the LGBTQ community to “divorce” themselves from trans people, and called for Republicans to embrace the “LGBs.”
“We’re going to protect women and kids because this is ridiculous,” she added.“It’s outrageous, and my rights don’t end where their feelings begin.”
Johnson joined in on the dehumanization, adding of the transgender community, “These people are pagans. They’re truly fascistic in their politics.”

“She’s just a bad person,” said Levy. “And the interesting thing is she’s now framing this as a battle between good and evil, with people who are not transphobic as the evil side. That literally describes her like a couple years ago.”
Levy added, “She at one point styled herself as a champion of trans rights, and I guess she must have been evil when she did it by her own sort of admission. So all thing’s just weird, and she’s weird.”
“I have friends and family that identify as LGBTQ,” Mace once told MSNBC. “Understanding how they feel and how they’ve been treated is important.”
It seems Mace’s feelings—and understanding—have since changed.
“You know what is an illness? Bigotry and hatred, and it’s literally eating them from the inside out,” Moodie commented. “And everything that she continues to say about trans people just reveals what an absolute horrific, monster, disgusting human being that she is.”
