PASIR GUDANG: Making slanderous comments and lobbing false accusations against a government will not only lead to the destruction of a political establishment, but also a nation.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said he agrees with Barisan Nasional (BN)’s strategic communications director, Datuk Seri Abd Rahman Dahlan's statement, that the approach taken by the opposition of making false accusations to bring down the government will only destroy the nation's harmony.
During the Ceramah Rakyat BN roadshow at Dataran Niaga Senggarang in Batu Pahat on Friday night, Rahman said the time has come for BN to tell the people that the oppositions’ political approach is dangerous to the country.
Khaled shared the same sentiment, and said the opposition is playing a dangerous game by spreading false information to the people.
He said that any form of slandering and spreading of falsehoods will only cause further friction in the community and cause a rift even among the closest of friends.
"In Islam itself, fitnah or slandering, could harm even the closest of siblings. We should take steps to prevent any form of slandering in politics" he said.
Khaled also refuted claims by some quarters that BR1M is a form of bribery.
"Why is it a bribe? It is a form of aid to help the needy, set by the government – just like zakat (tithe). Is zakat considered a bribe then?, he said.
Khaled was speaking after presenting the 1Malaysia People's Aid programme or Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) at Taman Cendana today.
A total of 525 recipients from the Permas and Johor Jaya districts in the Pasir Gudang parliamentary constituency received the BR1M aid presented by Khaled, accompanied by Pasir Gudang MP Datuk Normala Abd Samad.
