Oscar Pistorius 'shoots' girlfriend: Reeva Steenkamp tweeted Valentine's Day excitement hours before death

The 30-year-old had been dating the Paralympian star for two months and they were seen as a celebrity power couple in South Africa

Hours before the most romantic day of the year, Oscar Pistorius' model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp tweeted: "What do you have up your sleeve for your love tomorrow??? #getexcited #ValentinesDay".

Her excitement for the big day was palpable on her Twitter feed. Replying to one response she tweeted: "That sounds amazing! Wow that's what it's all about! It should be a day of love for everyone :) may it be blessed!"

But less than 24 hours later, she had been killed at Paralympian blade runner Pistorius' home.

Describing herself as a model, cover girl, law graduate and child of God on Twitter, she was born in Cape Town and moved to Johannesburg to pursue a modelling career.


The model booked big jobs: she was a cover girl for FHM and was the face of cosmetic giant Avon.

The 30-year-old had been dating the Paralympian star for two months and the pair were a huge celebrity couple in South Africa.

She had been in a "healthy, fabulous relationship" with Pistorius, according to her agent Sarit Tomlinson.

Ms Tomlison described Ms Steenkamp as an "absolute angel on earth".

She told Sky News that Ms Steenkamp "was the kindest, most unbelievable girl".


Her Twitter feed suggests a woman in love, regularly describing her plans with the sports star.

On February 9 she wrote: "Excited for a chilled Saturday evening in with good food, movies, popcorn, frozen yoghurt & my boo. #happiness #love #chilling #weekend".

Sarit Tomlinson, the publicist for Oscar Pistorius' girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp says she was a wonderful girl.

Many took to Reeva Steenkamp's Facebook page today to pay tribute to her.

Marina Bonifacio wrote: "May you find comfort in the arms of the Angels...as you are now...a beautiful shining Angel. Goodbye"

And Leo J. Surprenant left this message: "My heart beat stopped for a few seconds when I heard the news. You will never be forgotten… You will always be missed!"

Miss Steenkamp was due to appear as a celebrity contestant in 'Tropika Island of Treasure Show' this Saturday.

The show's website says: "Reeva has a passion for cars and cooking and prefers to read a book on her off days and spend quality time with friends and family."

Miss Steenkamp was found dead at a luxury gated housing estate east of Pretoria, shot in the head and arm. 

South African journalists report she had entered the house to surprise Pistorius for Valentine's Day.

Pistorius was arrested following the shooting and faces murder charges.
