A Trailer for Sam Heughan's New Show 'Clan Lands' Is Coming Soon
In June of 2020, Starz announced that Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish will star in Men in Kilts, a Scottish-centric travel and culture series. This new project evolved out of Heughan and McTavish's idea for a podcast called Clan Lands. Outlander may be on a break between seasons, but Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser on the series, and Graham McTavish, who once played his uncle Dougal MacKenzie, are working on a new project together.
The two actors are launching a podcast-turned-TV-series together called Men in Kilts, which will explore Scottish culture and history, and presumably, a little whisky. (The show's Instagram page even references the pair getting drunk together). And while the show wont be about Outlander explicitly, fans will undoubtedly appreciate their deep dive into the setting of the series.
"I’m not sure I’m ready for this.... but it’ll be an adventure! Who’s joining @grahammctavish and I in @clanlands ??" Heughan wrote on Instagram, announcing the program.
McTavish shared a similar post, writing: "Great catching up with my murdering nephew @samheughan and planning our “Clanlands”podcast. Stay tuned for a lot of fun, history, landscape and kilts #clanlands Coming soon......."

Watch it up top. The clip was revealed in tandem with an announcement from Starz sharing that they're picking up the series, though no release date was given. The statement also confirmed a change in name of the project from Clan Lands to Men in Kilts.
Heughan has described the show as "basically a road trip around Scotland with my co-star Graham McTavish."
"We'd been playing these Highland warriors for years now, faking it, and we thought, 'you know, it'd be nice to sort of find out a bit more about it," he told Oprah Magazine.
"I've always been interested in Scotland's history, the clans, and the culture," he said. "We have such huge tourism from Outlander. We just wanted to sort of go on that adventure as well, and bring some of that to people, because it's part of the show that we don't get to explore anymore as the show has moved on."
The show started filming back in September.
Last fall, an official Clan Lands account implied that they had started recording the show, which was originally just a podcast, but has since morphed into something more. "It's been a big day," McTavish says in the clip, sharing that they've been drinking and have met some "amazing people."

They've also teased one of the guests on the series, a man named Richard from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society.
