(UPDATE) Over 200 Perak students struck down by Influenza A (H3) outbreak


IPOH: More than 100 students from several schools in Perak here have been quarantined in their respective hostels after showing symptoms of influenza-like illness since March 4.

State Health Committee chairman Datuk Mah Hang Soon said 127 female students from Sekolah Raja Perempuan Taayah principal have been isolated after complaining of cough, fever and body aches.

"We have taken eight samples from them, of which two tested positive for Influenza A(H3)," he said in a press conference after visiting the school today.

Mah will be visiting Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman next, after which a press will be held.
