TACLOBAN, Leyte — Together with six barangay officials and a representative from the Department of Justice, by virtue of a search warrant, the Albuera police raided the house of Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. in Albuera, Leyte at past 6:00 a.m. today.
The house was locked and abandoned.
Albuera PNP Chief P/CInsp. Jovie Espenido said, they recovered 11 packets of suspected shabu worth more than 80 million pesos from the Espinosa residence.
Authorities also recovered seven camouflage uniforms and a variety of materials used in making bombs.
After validation, the seized items were immediately brought to the PNP Custodial Center to be secured as evidence against the Espinosa father-and-son.
Meanwhile, relatives of the accused Espinosa are calling the authorities to urge Kerwin to surrender instead of executing the shoot-to-kill order.
“I appeal to the government that once Kerwin arrive here to surrender, we ask for his safety because he is pitiful,” pleads Neneng Rosal, Mayor Espinosa’s relative.
At present, Mayor Espinosa is recovering in a hospital in Cebu.
Espinosa was sent to the hospital after experiencing chest pains on Saturday.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 7 says they are ready in case the younger Espinosa appears.
“Our agents are all alert for his presence especially his arrival here in Cebu. We are already on alert about his whereabouts,” said PDEA 7 Regional Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz. — Jenelyn Gaquit / UNTV News & Rescue
