KUALA LUMPUR: A three day proceeding on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) refunds loss valued at RM 18 billion will take place on September 12, 13 and 30.
Public Accounts Committee Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said the proceeding will see six individuals being called in to testify before the parliamentary select committee probe, including former Treasury Secretary-General Tan Sri Mohd Irwan Serigar.
“These individuals including those from Customs Department and Finance Ministry will also be called in to give explanation on the matters related to the loss of GST refunds.
“The National Audit Department had given us the details on 1MDB and GST refunds. As of now, they could not be revealed as it is still premature and can affect the on-going investigation,” he said at Parliament Lobby here, today.
“It is too early to make a conclusion, we will decide based on the evidence which will be provided by the witnesses called to testify,” he said.
Kiandee revealed that the select committee members had been briefed by the Accountant-General's Department prior to the beginning of the GST refund loss proceedings.
Kiandee said the briefing today only touched on the procedures for the PAC members to use during the proceeding. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
