'Pacific Rim 2' has Australia, China as filming locations

A sequel to mechs and monsters action spectacular "Pacific Rim" is underway, with John Boyega and Jing Tian confirmed for the cast which will travel to Australian and then China after filming beings in November.

John Boyega is leading "Pacific Rim 2" and is now being joined by Chinese actress Jing Tian, who is set to enjoy international breakthrough with "The Great Wall" and "Kong: Skull Island" set for US release in early 2017.

The director of "Pacific Rim," Guillermo del Toro, remains involved as a producer, while Steven S. DeKnight of Netflix's "Daredevil" now helms for Lionsgate and Universal Pictures.

What's new is Jing Tian's involvement and an Australian shoot starting in November, reports Collider, following which principal photography is expected to move to Tian's homeland of China.
