There’s a new League of Legends: Wild Rift esports team in the Philippines, and it will be under the banner of Team Pacquaio.GG (TPGG).

The esports company TPGG, founded by legendary Boxing star Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao, has officially unveiled on social media their Wild Rift team, named Team Underground (UDG), on Thursday (24 February).

TPGG was founded by Pacquiao and Veloce Esports in December and initially signed esports and gaming influencers and streamers like Shin Boo "Sh1nboo" Ponferrada and Elyson "GHOST Wrecker", with the goal of launching esports teams in 2022.

Team Underground is the first esports team that TPGG will be managing.

UDG's roster mostly consists of former players of AXS, one of the teams which qualified for the WCS 2022 – Philippines Group Stage, and will be managed by Sh1nboo.

AXS were on top of the WCS-PH Knockout Stage Qualifier, with a 7-0 record, the only unbeaten team in the qualifiers.

Team Underground Roster:

  • Richard "UDG Lara1" Lara - Dragon Lane (Also known as Demon)

  • UDG Sayonara - Jungle Lane

  • UDG Don - Baron Lane

  • Miguel Adrielle "UDG Mitsura" Gavin (Also known as Arutism) - Mid Lane

  • Beaver-Ed "UDG Orthros" Villanueva - Support

  • UDG Cookiez - Substitute

  • Karl “UDG Karlll” Ken Bautista – Substitute

Cookiez and Karlll are the only two members of the team that were not part of AXS.

This also marks the return of Karlll, who had previously been suspended due to an age restriction violation in 2021, where he used to be part of the now-disbanded team Amihan Esports, along with Mistura, Lara1, and Orthos.

Amihan Esport disbanded in 2021 because of a 12-month ban from Riot Games due to submitting forged documents.

Now all under the banner of Team Underground, the team will replace the slot of AXS in the WCS SEA – PH 2022 tournament, which kicks off on Friday (25 February).

There they will face seven other teams including Fennel Adversity and 2021 SEA Champions 2nd runner-up and 2021 Horizon Cup semifinalist Team Secret. Both teams had been invited directly into the 2022 WCS Philippines Competition.

All eight teams will be competing for the regional title, an opportunity to compete for the WCS finals, and the lion’s share of US $160,000.

The WCS is the highest level of Wild Rift Esports in Southeast Asia. Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong each have six regional WCS competitions.

In each region, eight teams will fight in a best-of-three double round-robin style over five weeks in the group rounds. The top six teams from this round will progress to the playoffs, which will be held from April 1 to 10, and will include a double-elimination format.

The winners of the six regions will then participate in the WCS Finals to compete for the SEA Champions title.

The top two teams in the WCS Finals will also represent Southeast Asia at the Wild Rift Global Champions Icons, which will be a LAN event in Europe.

Players can watch Team Underground compete in the WCS Philippines on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.
