Paintings by French impressionists Monet, Renoir coming to Singapore in November

The National Gallery Singapore will be exhibiting key works by legendary French impressionist painters Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, among others, from 16 November to 11 March 2018.

Entitled “Colours of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musee d’Orsay”, the exhibition will feature works from the world-renowned French museum Musee d’Orsay. The collection includes key paintings by the founder of French impressionism Claude Monet, as well as other legendary French painters such as Renoir, Edouard Manet and Paul Cezanne.

The exhibition will feature over 60 masterpieces that trace the emergence of modernism in Europe. Musee d’Orsay is also known for holding the world’s leading collection of French art of the late 19th century.

Another exhibition to be held concurrently will feature works by two South-east Asian artists who were active in Europe during the 19th century. Entitled “Between Worlds: Raden Saleh and Juan Luna”, the exhibition features works by the respective Indonesian and Filipino artists.

Both exhibitions will be take place under the National Gallery Singapore’s “Century of Light” programme and will be held at the Singtel Special Exhibition Gallery.

Admission fee is priced at S$15 for Singaporeans and permanent residents and S$25 for non-Singaporeans.
