Palacios to remain Bucs boss

Orlando Pirates have issued a very brief statement confirming that Augusto Palacios will remain as first-team coach for next season. Palacios had taken up the reins of the club following Julio Leal's departure in April and steered them to their second successive treble - following Ruud Krol's success at the club in the 2010/11 season.

The club's statement read:

Orlando Pirates Football Club Chairman Dr Irvin Khoza has today confirmed that the club has entered into a contract to keep Augusto Palacios as coach of both the senior team and development for the 2012/2013 season. "This will enable Palacios to have a 'see-through' benefit that will ensure the club does not lose out on players in whose development he has dedicated much effort", said Dr Khoza. Meanwhile, Palacios said: "I am grateful for the opportunities and support I have received from the Chairman in the many years I have been with Orlando Pirates."
