SIPITANG: The fourth Pan Borneo Highway work package in Sabah will see a 28.4 kilometre-long upgrade of the Sindumin-Kampung Melalia road, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said today.
The package, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak here earlier, will turn the current stretch into a four-lane dual carriageway which will also include two multi-tier interchange and three bridges.
"It is part of the first phase of the 706-km mega project, starting from Sindumin here to Tanjung Simpang Mengayau in the west coast area, from Ranau to Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Tawau in the east coast of Sabah."
The construction, he said which will take about 36 months to be completed. It is also expected to create 400,000 job and business opportunities for locals in the surrounding areas.
Musa said upon completion, the economic landscape in the district will undergo a significant transformation and become tourism pitstop from neighbouring state and country.
