Parlour urges Arsenal to sign £100m Premier League star over two alternative midfield targets
Ray Parlour thinks West Ham United and England star Declan Rice should be Arsenal’s main midfield target heading into this summer’s transfer window.
The Gunners are set to be busy in the transfer market this summer after they fell short to Man City in the race for the Premier League title this season.
The London outfit are expected to overhaul their squad before next season. It has been claimed this week that as many as eight players could move elsewhere.
Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are both likely to leave the club so Arsenal need to strengthen in midfield.
Rice is understood to be their main target and he is going to be available this summer. West Ham are open to letting him leave but they have reportedly set his price tag at £100m.
Arsenal could face competition from Man Utd and Liverpool in the battle for Rice so they need to also consider alternative options.
Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Man City’s Ilkay Gundogan are admired by Arsenal and Parlour thinks all three players “would be brilliant signings” for his former club.
“The midfield is definitely the place that Arsenal need another player this summer, especially if Granit Xhaka is leaving,” Parlour told NetBet Casino.
“Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo and Ilkay Gundogan are all top players and would all be brilliant signings for Arsenal.”

But Parlour did argue that Rice “is the one” Arsenal need to go for.
“Gundogan has been linked with a move to the Emirates and he’s done brilliantly at Manchester City over the years, so I’m sure he’d do a similar job if we were to join Arsenal,” Parlour added.
“Caicedo has been excellent for Brighton this season, I’ve seen him a lot. He’s very versatile and can also play at right-back if you need him to, and he’s very strong in that midfield area, so would be a great addition to the squad.
“But I think Declan Rice is the one that everybody really wants to come into that midfield area for Arsenal.
“He’d have a lot more of a different role for Arsenal than he currently does at West Ham; he’ll be able to get forward more and show more of his ability in that area of the pitch, so he’s someone I’d really love to Arsenal sign.
“But it’s all going to come down to the money and what sort of price he goes for and the budget Arsenal have.”
