SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Pas will wait for a signal from its central leadership on whether any candidate from the party will be put for the upcoming Port Dickson parliamentary by-election.
This is due to the resignation of its incumbent Datuk Danyal Balagopal Abdullah as announced today, to make way for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest in the parliamentary constituency.
State Pas Commissioner Mustafa Daharun said the matter would be discussed at the party’s annual convention tomorrow in Terengganu.
“We have no problem if we get instruction from the central to place a candidate. If we are given the mandate to contest, we will contest,” he said when contacted here today.
He said the announcement made by PKR came as a shock and Pas had yet to make any decision on the most suitable candidate to contest in the by-election. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
