KOTA BARU: Parliament speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia played his role well, without fear or favour, at the Dewan Rakyat session yesterday, Pas secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said today.
He said it proves that Pandikar Amin is a responsible person who can carry out his tasks well.
"(Pandikar Amin’s) decision to allow Pas president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang to table the Private Member's Bill, and giving space to the party to explain the bill, shows that he is good in playing his role as Parliament speaker.
"Pas was really satisfied with yesterday's session, (even though we were) told to bring the bill forward to the next Parliamentary session," he told reporters at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Pengkalan Chepa, last night.
Takiyuddin, who is Pas MP for Kota Baru, said the postponement of the debate on the bill to empower the Syariah courts, would give Pas more time to further study the Shariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965.
