KUALA LUMPUR: After sitting out the Sungai Kandis by-election earlier this month, Pas is wading into the Seri Setia poll to test support for itself, as well as the 100 day-old Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.

The Islamist party is expected to field Dr Halimah Ali against PH component party PKR’s Halimey Abu Bakar, who is also a former Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) member.

The Seri Seria by-election nominations will take place at the MBPJ Civics Hall today, with its mayor Datuk Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain as Returning Officer.

The state constituency seat fell vacant following the death of its assemblyman Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin of cancer on Aug 2.

The by-election is also expected make waves with PKR campaigning under the PH logo. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
