PC download charts: 'Rocket League,' 'PuniTy'
"Rocket League" remains Steam's bestselling hit four weeks after release, "PuniTy" hails the now unavailable Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima collaboration "P.T.," and "Cosmonautica" hits the heights upon its debut come Monday, August 3.
With soccer and RC car crossover "Rocket League" leading the pack, Steam's chart stays relatively stable since last week.
Prehistoric survival hit "ARK," anti-hero sandbox "Grand Theft Auto V," and Steam's own label shooter "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" occupy positions 2-4.
Returning to the top five is a bells-and-whistles edition of 2014's well-received "Lord of the Rings" spin-off "Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor."
It was part of a promotion for the free, gaming-oriented, Linux-based operating system Steam OS, a promo which occurred following Microsoft's release of Windows 10.
On GameStop's US chart, site visitors snap up an all-inclusive edition of 2014 team action game "Titanfall" for $5, ahead of a likely sequel unveiling at Gamescom (August 5-9).
GOG's biggest game right now is "Cosmonautica," also available on iOS and Android. Players manage their own interplanetary freighter, travelling through randomly-generated solar systems upon the whims of weird and wonderful clients.
On Itch.io, domestic drone sim "FPV Freerider" retains top spot but the rest of the top five is all change, with withdrawn PlayStation 4 horror "P.T." paid homage in "PuniTy," skyward exploration and adventure in "Clouds Below," role-playing game recast as typing tutor "Secret of Qwerty," and changing room concierge challenge "Towel Required" shaking things up.
