GEORGE TOWN: Two Penang President's Cup players were injured when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a vehicle near the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah (JSAHMS) bridge in Batu Maung, yesterday.

Team manager Saad Hassan said striker Muhammad Asraf Aliffudin Yassin, 18 and defender Muhammad Shahmi Mohd Sohairi, 21, were on their way to the Batu Kawan Stadium when the accident occurred at about 1pm.

Saad said Shahmi was seriously hurt, while Asraf suffered minor injuries and that both are receiving treatment at the Lam Wah Ee Hospital.

"The players were supposed to have travelled by bus, but since the bus driver was sick, they had to travel to the stadium on their own," he said.

Saad added that both missed the match against Melaka United, which commenced at 4.45pm. -- Bernama
