GEORGE TOWN: Line Clear Restaurant, the nasi kandar outlet which was ordered to close for two weeks due to poor hygiene, will resume operations tomorrow.

Penang Health Department staff, who checked on the premises this morning following a massive cleanup exercise, have given the outlet the go-ahead to resume business.

Abdul Kader Jainul Abidin, 43, who is helping his uncle to operate the 70-year-old business, said they will open their doors to customers at 6am tomorrow.

"To celebrate our re-opening, we will serve free syrup water to all our patrons.

"We are glad that we are able to resume business as usual again," he said when met at the restaurant this afternoon.

During a joint operation between the department and the Penang Island City Council on Monday, Line Clear was ordered to close temporarily after rat droppings and carcasses of rats and cockroaches were found inside the outlet.

The toilet was also filthy.

Its neighbour, Yasmeen Nasi Kandar Restaurant was also ordered to temporarily shut.

Checks at the outlet this afternoon showed massive cleaning up works were still ongoing.
