Peng Xue Wen Confident Of Victory Over Hometown Favourite Stefer Rahardian

Fresh off his fastest-ever victory, Peng Xue Wen faces the biggest ONE Championship bout of his career.

The Chinese wrestling star will take on Indonesian hero Stefer “The Lion” Rahardian in the co-main event of ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES in Rahardian’s hometown of Jakarta on 22 September.

Far from being intimidated at the prospect of facing the 9-1 contender in his own backyard, Peng was excited to accept the contest.

“As soon as I got the news that I could compete in Jakarta, I got excited,” says the 22-year-old.

“I am ready!”

Peng’s last outing grew his stock noticeably as he finished Malaysian SEA Games bronze medal-winning boxer Eddey “The Clown” Lakai at ONE: BATTLE FOR THE HEAVENS with strikes inside the opening minute of their contest.

Peng dropped Kalai with a huge right hand and finished the job with ground strikes at the 57-second mark to score the fastest win of his career in Guangzhou.

“It was not bad,” Peng says, modestly.

“I have been working on my skills all the time. I want to be a great mixed martial artist.”

Peng’s bout with Rahardian will present the Chinese star with a stern test of his grappling credentials, with Peng’s wrestling base going up against Rahardian’s jiu-jitsu skills. It should make for a fascinating contest.

“He is a great fighter. He is a jiu-jitsu player, but I don’t think it’s difficult to beat him,” says Peng, confidently.

“The biggest threat is that his jiu-jitsu is probably better than mine, and his experience is more abundant than mine, but that doesn’t matter.

“I will try to end the bout standing. My strategy is to KO him.”
