Perak Tengah district police chief Supt Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the men, aged between 20 and 50, were picked up during operations at several locations in the district.

"The operation, which began at 2am, was focused on several hotspot areas in Seri Iskandar, Jejawi and Kampung Gajah.

"The civil servant, in his 40s, was arrested in Seri Iskandar. We found several packets of drugs (on) him.

“In the operation, police seized drugs, believed to be syabu and heroin (from the other suspects as well).

"Some of them have criminal records," he said

Mohamad Zainal said the case is being investigated under Section 39 (A)(1), 12 (2), 15(1)(a) and 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He added that police will continue to carry out operations to weed out illicit drug activities in the state.
