IPOH: Leadership by example was what Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir was demonstrating during a walkabout to collect rubbish in the city with the public today.

"Today, the ‘Perak Yang Bersih’ campaign was launched simultaneously in all the local authorities throughout the state.

"This is the beginning to start keeping our city clean,” he told reporters during the launch of the campaign today.

Zambry said the campaign was not organised as a political stunt, but to ensure state cleanliness.

It was a collaboration between local authorities, government departments and NGOs.

Earlier, Zambry joined 1,000 Ipoh City Council general workers to clean up several areas in the city, including Medan Kidd and Pekan Lama.

Also present was state secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan, State Women Development, Family, Community Welfare, Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Rusnah Kassim and Ipoh Mayor Datuk Zamri Man.
