Perak MCA issues warning over Umno MP’s racist comments

MCA's Pasir Salak division will severe all ties with Umno's Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, if he continues to make racist comments, Perak MCA liaison chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mah Hang Soon said today. The Chenderiang assemblyman said this in a letter to Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir, after the state executive councillors meeting in Ipoh today. In the letter, which he said is supported by Perak MCA, Mah also proposed to Zambry, who is Perak Barisan Nasional chairman, to form a state-level BN disciplinary committee to deal with such matters. "Such a committee can be a mechanism to deal with any racially-charged comments or actions in the future," Mah said in the letter, which was dated yesterday. Tajuddin, who is Agriculture and Agro-based Industries deputy minister, was reported to have allegedly threatened to "slap" the Chinese if the community complained about their problems to other governments. His remarks followed comments made by China's ambassador Malaysia, following a visit to Petaling Street in Kuala Lumpur last month, with regards to extremism and discrimination based on race. Tajuddin, however, later denied making those remarks. "We want to remind him (Tajuddin) that MCA, along with Umno and MIC played pivotal roles in the country's independence. No one should be able to query the participation of MCA or the Chinese in government," said Mah. In commenting on Tajuddin's "slap" remark, Umno minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor defended his Umno colleague, saying the media should not have highlighted such stories. "Why do you (media) keep on stirring this story, like the opposition. The shit you stir smells, very good, you know. "Tajuddin didn't mean to slap, Tajuddin did not say (it). These kind of stories, kill it," he reportedly said. – October 13, 2015.
