Peter Chan, Samantha Morton on Venice festival jury
Hong Kong director Peter Chan and British actress Samantha Morton will be on a jury presided by US producer Michael Mann for the Venice film festival starting next month, organisers said on Friday. They will be joined by French actress and model Laetitia Casta and Israeli director Ari Folman in the nine-person jury which awards the Golden Lions. Chan started out working on Jackie Chan films and his directorial debut "Alan and Eric: Between Hello and Goodbye" in 1991 went on to win awards. His latest production, Teddy Chen's "Bodyguards and Assassins" was a big box office hit Asia-wide and picked up eight prizes at the Hong Kong Film Awards. The 35-year-old Morton has been nominated for an Oscar twice and her most recent appearance was in "Cosmopolis" by David Cronenberg. The other jury members are Serbian actress and performer Marina Abramovic, Italian director Matteo Garrone, French-Swiss director Ursula Meier and Argentinian director Pablo Trapero. The Venice film festival starts on August 29 and runs until September 8.
