BANGI: Pakatan Harapan’s candidate in the Balakong by-election will be wearing a new pair of shoes throughout her campaigning period.
Wong Siew Ki said she bought the shoes yesterday, and hope that they will serve her well until campaigning ends on Sept 7.
“The campaigning period will be 21 days, which is long.
“Therefore, I will make use of the period to be more efficient and conduct walkabouts to meet the voters,” said the 32 year-old.
On July 30, the Election Commission announced a 21-day campaigning period for the by-election, after taking into account the public holidays of Hari Raya Aidiladha and Merdeka.
Wong will face MCA’s Tan Chee Teong in the state constituency poll.
The seat was declared vacant following the death of assemblyman Eddie Ng Tien Chee in an accident at KM11.7 of the Grand Saga Highway on July 20.
In the 14th general election, Ng retained his Balakong seat for the second term after defeating Lim Chin Wah from Barisan Nasional and Mohamad Ibrahim Ghazali of Pas with a 35,538-vote majority.
Early voting for the by-election is set for Sept 4, while voting day will be on Sept 8. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
