KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan has set up 10 booths at various locations in Balakong to enable voters to check their polling station in the run-up to the by-election there this Saturday.
PH candidate Wong Siew Ki said the booths, manned by party volunteers, would operate until Friday.
She said the move was initiated as many voters still did not know which voting centre they should go to cast their votes.
“During my campaign period so far, I realised that almost 50 per cent of those I met did not know where their polling stations are. Many of them are confused, wondering whether they are to vote at the same station as they did in the last general election.
“So I hope with this initiative, the voting rate for this by-election will increase,” she told reporters during her campaign at Bandar Damai Perdana near here, this morning.
The booths are at Cheras Batu 11, Taman Megah, PH operation and room, DAP service centre at the Cheras Traders Square, Desa Baiduri, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Simpang Balak, Tanming Jaya, Cheras Jaya and Taman Budiman.
A total of 62,219 voters are eligible to cast their votes in the Balakong by-election which will see a straight fight between Wong and Tan Che Teong from MCA. – Bernama © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
