When we heard the initial rumours of Pharrell’s foray into the beauty industry, we couldn’t help but get a teensy bit excited. Why? Well, not only does the 40-year-old rapper have some serious style (see our gallery for proof), but he’s also a FROW regular who deems Anna Wintour as a close pal, he’s the go-to guy for fashion’s coolest parties (he recently performed at a Calvin Klein party- might they be involved in the new perfume?) and having unfurled a number of designer collaborations over the years, we reckon Pharrell’s new fragrance might just be one hot beauty offering. Designed in conjunction with Japanese fashion house Comme Des Garçons, the new scent, entitled Girl- echoing the title of the rapper’s new album- marks the first time the fashion house has teamed up with a musician to create a fragrance.
Adrian Joffe, chief executive officer of Comme Des Garçons Parfums SA said that Pharrell “knew exactly what he wanted the perfume to smell like right from the beginning. It has been an honour to work with such a creative artist with a great vision”.

In the past, Pharrell has done eyewear and down jackets for Moncler, jewellery and sunnies for Louis Vuitton and denim-wear with G-Star Raw for Bionic Yarn, where Pharrell is currently creative director, so we reckon the star sure knows what he wants from the fragrance. So, what will the new scent smell like? Although next-to-no details have yet been leaked, the singer/rapper/producer did say, “I create based on what I feel like is missing. You jump in and follow your gut. It's like a sculpture - you're just adding on more clay, you're chiselling away and adding on until you feel like it's done, and you stand back and go, "Oh! It's a person." That smells like some serious sexiness to us!

It seems Williams is as happy about the latest collaboration as we are, gushing, “As one of my favourite designers once said, ‘Comme des Garçons is your favourite designers’ favourite designer…the top of the top, the best of the best. I am so honoured to be working with Comme des Garçons and cherish the education that I’ve experienced in this collaboration.”
Details of the new fragrance project are to be unveiled later this spring, with bottles set to land on counters in September. Stay tuned!
