MANILA — Philippine Ambassador Carlos Sorreta said serious talks about the issue on strengthening the relations with Russia and agreements are expected to be signed in the meeting between President Rodrigo Duterte and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Ambassador Sorreta said a number of businessmen will come along with President Duterte upon his visit to Russia in May.
Filipinos and even some Russians are looking forward to President Duterte’s visit.
“I’m number one fan of President Rodrigo Duterte here in Russia. I’m so happy and excited, I want Tatay Digong is finally coming here in Moscow. Yehey,” Russian citizen Dmitry Doroshenko said.
Riza Pontimayor, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Moscow said,”I’m very excited to see President Rodrigo “Tatay” Duterte because I am also from Davao.”
Meanwhile, about 778 Filipinos in Russia availed of the services of the embassy.
Filipinos in Russia were given the chance to register and update their documents without spending large amounts.
“I will renew my SSS and my husband’s SSS too. It’s a big thing for us that we don’t need to be upset with these kinds of documents,” said OFW Lolinda Mieza.
Sylvia Diamante, another Filipina migrant worker added, “At least I can avail the benefits and we can update our records now.”
The embassy also conducted overseas absentee voting registration.
The on-site visits also began last Friday and ended on Monday, April 25th, in Karmanitsky, Moscow.
The Philippine Embassy in Russia believes that through the on-site visits, many Filipinos will receive assistance especially in processing their pensions. Filipinos in Russia hope this program will continue. – Ronald de Guzman | UNTV News & Rescue
