"The Philippines has one of the longest and liveliest Christmas celebrations in the world. We are honoured to share it with the people here.

"At the same time, it is also an opportunity for a get-together with friends to thank them for all the support they have extended to the embassy and the Filipino community during the year," said Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya.

He added that Christmas was a time for family and friends, and through the parol festivities, Malaysians could experience the Christmas spirit like how it was celebrated in the Philippines.

The parols will be on display at the embassy grounds until December 31.

The parol lighting-up ceremony tomorrow will feature a mass followed by the singing of Christ?- mas carols and serving of Filipino food.

Officials from the San Fernando City government, led by San Fernando City councillor Alex Patio, diplomats and members of the Filipino community in Kuala Lumpur are expected to be present.
