Phillip Schofield has written 'deeply emotional' tell all book in lockdown
Phillip Schofield has revealed he has finally felt able to write his autobiography - months after coming out as gay.
The 58-year-old This Morning presenter announced his publishing tell-all memoir Life What You Make It, admitting he started it in 2017 but could not go on.
Schofield revealed: “After being asked many times, and after many years of wanting to, I have written my autobiography.
“In 2017 I wrote the first chapter and I sent it to a few friends and they said, ‘Oh my God you have to write this.’ And I knew I couldn’t and you know why.”

The former children’s TV presenter came out as gay publicly in February this year. he has been married to wife Steph Lowe for 27 years and they have two daughters, Molly and Ruby.
Schofield went on: “And then my life changed and lockdown happened and I ended up with a shed load of time on my hands and I wrote and I wrote and I loved it and it’s done.
“I will take you behind the scenes of my life and my career and my family and friends and the ups and downs there have been. Lots of up, lots of fun, but some really very, very emotional times as well.”
He admitted: “It has been a fascinating experience, both immense fun and deeply emotional.”
Schofield added: “I’ve been honest I’ve been me.”
The former musical theatre actor also revealed he wrote the first line of the book when he was 14.
He said: “I knew exactly how I wanted it to start should I ever write it and it is in fact the first line.”

Schofield began his TV career as a continuity announcer for Children’s BBC in 1985. He presented the BBC’s flagship Saturday morning children’s show Going Live! from 1987-1993, and moved on to adult-oriented television in the early 1990s.
He has been a presenter on This Morning since 2002.
When he came out in February - first on Instagram, followed by an interview with his This Morning co-presenter Holly Willoughby - he denied any pressure had been put on him to make his sexuality public. He insisted it had been a personal decision after years of “inner conflict”.
