Not even the coronavirus pandemic can keep Queen Elizabeth from her horses. Over the weekend, the British monarch was spotted riding Fern, a 14-year-old Fell Pony, in Windsor Home Park.

Pictures taken by a Press Association photographer and shared on the Royal Family's primary Instagram account show the 94-year-old Queen on horseback, wearing an olive-colored jacket, cream riding pants, white gloves, and a vibrant pink scarf in lieu of a helmet. (In the past, the Telegraph has reported that she always declines to wear a "hard hat" so as to not mess up her hair.)

The Instagram caption alludes to the Queen's lifelong love of all things equestrian, a passion she's passed on to her children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren.

"Her Majesty has enjoyed riding since childhood and is closely involved with the welfare of the horses she owns for breeding, riding and racing," it reads.

Shortly following the COVID-19 outbreak in the UK, the Queen left Buckingham Palace to social distance in Windsor, where she was seen riding. Now, several months later, she's still at the Castle, with no plans to return to London anytime soon.

Major royal events including Trooping the Colour, garden parties, and the public opening of the state rooms at Buckingham Palace have all been canceled because of the COVID-19 crisis, but the British monarch is continuing to keep up with her duties.

In recent months she's given two televised addresses to the nation, and attends her weekly audiences with Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

"The Queen continues to be busy and will follow appropriate advice on engagements," a source told Town & Country earlier this year. But every now and then, she still manages to squeeze a ride into her schedule.
