Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officiated the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) 50th Anniversary Parade at Tengah Air Base on Saturday (1 September) morning.

The event, which was attended by some 1,400 invited guests, commemorated the RSAF’s formation on 1 September 1968 along with the five decades of commitment put in by the air force in safeguarding Singapore’s skies.

Along with marching contingents from all of the RSAF’s Commands, the parade also saw a mobile column drive-by led by RSAF pioneers, a static display of aircraft and weapons systems, as well as a flypast involving 20 RSAF aircraft.

Also making its first appearance was the RSAF’s newly acquired Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport aircraft. The parade also marked the end of the year-long celebrations for the RSAF’s golden jubilee.
